The role of PTA is foremost to promote education. With education
always seeming to be at the bottom of local, state, and federal budgets, it has
fallen to PTA to work closely with schools to fill in the gaps.
Not only do we want children to succeed in school we want them to have fun
as well. Your local PTA is sponsoring a number of fun and educational
activities this year. We will be sponsoring Amelia Elementary's first
Spelling Bee, Parent Involvement Night, Science Night, etc. in addition to some
just plain fun events like Family Olympics and the Amelia Elementary Idol Talent
Show. We also provide school supplies, help local needy families at
Christmas, provide snacks for the Enhance Learning Opportunity sessions, and
many other things.
Unfortunately, all these things cost money and the Fall Fundraiser is the
main vehicle that funds most of PTA's activities. A successful fundraiser
means that PTA can provide more programs for our children.
PTA encourages selling only to friends, family and relatives and never
door-to-door selling for obvious safety reasons. We promote responsible spending
on the parent's part as well. For those children who have the opportunity
the sell 10 or more items, we want to reward them by offering an invitation to a
party sponsored by Nestle. Other prize
levels include spinning a prize wheel at the Nestle party, a limousine ride to
lunch with Principal Dardy, and those who selling 50 items or more get a trip to
the money booth!
We hope that you will support our fundraiser so that we can continue to
support the students of Amelia Elementary.
