AMELIA WORLD CULTURES CLASS IS PREPARING TO PRESENT A VIDEOCONFERENCE  ON “THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD OF CLERMONT COUNTY” TO SCHOOLS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES

Amelia High Schools’ world culture class is currently participating in a program in conjunction with the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration.  Several students under the teachings and guidance of Dr. Stephanie Stewart are preparing a research virtual report to present to other schools across America.  This project is part of the KC3 CILC student participation project.

                                                  Project Overview
From east to west, urban or rural, we each live in a unique community. What can we learn from our area, from our varied citizens or natural resources? What can we share with others that will enhance their view of our country or our world? This standards based project seeks to tap into the creative nature of students as they look at their community with new eyes and explore ways to share their findings with others using videoconferencing and technology as a resource.

West Clermont and World Affairs Council of Greater Cincinnati could be starting a speaker partnership coupled with videoconferencing.  This is something new for the council but has been within our capabilities for sometime. The Council brings notable experts in international affairs and global issues to Cincinnati to meet with educators, students, business people and the community.  We will keep you posted on new developments.

Looking for new ideas in your classroom?

Think about doing videoconferencing collaborations with other schools and students with the same standards and curriculum you are teaching to your students.  Listed on in the left column of this page are various posted collaborations intended for you to join.  Most of the listed collaborations are to involve your students in projects and interactions to increase the interest level and also to integrate your classroom activities using technology.  A state standard requirement for all classes.

On the other side of the technology of videoconferencing is our capability for you to let your students and your activity become shared by others, thus moving the educational bar a little higher by involving student to student collaborations.  In other words, watching your students present your topic material in a collaborative educational format.  This is the highest compliment; your students actively using their skills to take what you  taught them to a critical thinking level.

If you are interested in collaborating with another school, please let me know and I will meet with you to gather information to put on the videoconferencing listservs.
