Overview of Program

The kindergarten curriculum at W.-T. includes a variety of literacy skills.  The children are introduced to phonemic awareness and to the Read Well reading program.  Read Well is a strong phonics and sight vocabulary rich program that is very structured.  Our students are encouraged to write independently from the beginning of the year.  Their writing progresses from drawing pictures to writing letters, words, sentences, and stories.  We are using the Everyday Math program which encourages lots of counting! Science and social studies concepts are incorporated into our day, often through our literacy program.
