First grade is a time of tremendous growth and learning. Our goal is for each child to become a life long learner. Our students not only become readers but THINKERS! In literacy, we teach comprehension strategies, decoding skills, word work, writing methods and the Read Well program. Each day children have time to read from their browsing boxes and share what they've learned about themselves as readers. In math, we use the Everyday Math Series that focuses on the number grid, math games, math boxes and math home-links.
