CAD
The School of Creative Arts and Design
By definition, CAD is designed for students
whose interests and abilities lie in
the creative and/or expressive realms.
Students who wish to pursue visual,
written and/or performing arts, and an
educational base that allows for college
prep classes with an emphasis on the Fine
Arts should take a serious look at CAD.
Classes are structured like a standard,
high school-based curriculum, but allow
for individual creative expression and
a more “hands-on” or “performancebased”
learning environment.
Much like a school of Fine Arts, required
coursework includes all the core courses;
mathematics, sciences, language arts and
social studies, but electives are geared
towards the highly creative student.
Students select from a comprehensive set
of art and design courses including Photography,
Graphic Design, Visual Arts I-IV,
Fashion Design, Drama, Creative Writing,
and Vocal and Musical performance.
In addition, an emphasis on portfolio
work exists in many of these classes to
prepare students for their eventual application
to colleges of Fine Arts.
