College Access Information Hotline for parents and students! The Ohio Board of Regents provides this toll free number 1-800-428-8246 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon. thru Fri.) to enable callers to speak with a “live” Information Specialist to answer questions and provide information about college preparation, financial aid, articulation and transfer, as well as general facts about colleges and universities throughout Ohio.

In Pictures offers free computer how-to tutorials, available at http://www.inpics.net. There are 12 online tutorials on subjects such as Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org, and Dreamweaver 8. The tutorials are based on pictures, not text, and can be used by anyone.

There are two new federal grants for the 2006-07 school year: the Academic Competitiveness Grant and the SMART Grant (math, science, language majors). You must qualify for a Pell Grant to be eligible for one or both of these grants. Visit studentaid.ed.gov to learn more.

Beginning fall 2007, Miami University will provide tuition and fees for all new first-year students from Ohio who have family incomes of less than $35,000. The program will continue to provide tuition and fees for eligible students for up to four years. Our financial aid staff is also prepared to help families find ways to cover other expenses, such as room and board.

Northern Kentucky University gives in-state tuition to UC Clermont transfer students working towards a bachelor’s degree and NOT majoring in environmental science, nursing, or criminal justice.
