Discover Card Scholarship
for juniors only!  Must have a GPA of 2.75 and excel in “leadership, community service, and obstacles overcome.”  Visit www.discovercard.com/tribute to apply.  Deadline: January 31.   

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority to award a scholarship to a black female.  Deadline is Jan. 31.  Applications available in Mrs. Hollabaugh’s office or by
calling 503-3690.

McKelvey Entrepreneurial Scholarship will award 50 $10,000 renewable scholarships for students who own their own business. See Mrs. Hollabaugh for more details.  Deadline: Jan. 31.

The River Valley Longbeards Clermont County’s local chapter of The National Wild Turkey Federation is offering a $500 scholarship. Students must actively participate in hunting sports, be involved in their school and community.  See Mrs. Hollabaugh for an application. Deadline is
Feb. 1.

SWOEA Scholarship -- Southwestern Ohio Education Assoc. will award two $1000 scholarships to students majoring in education.  AHS may recommend 2 students.  If interested, bring your resume to Pat Lutz by

Cincinnati Chapter Ohio Credit Union League to award nine $1,000 scholarships.  Student must be a member of a Credit Union.  Postmark deadline: Feb. 12

Best Buy will award over 1600 $1,500 scholarships--two for every Best Buy Store.  Register at bestbuy.scholarshipamerica.org.  Deadline to apply is Feb. 15, 2007.

The National Commission for Cooperative Education will award 175 merit co-op renewable scholarships of $5000 each. Find an application and additional information online at www.co-op.edu. Deadline to apply is Feb. 15, 2007.

Miss Cheerleader of America Scholarship

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Health Career Day Saturday, February 17th—9 to 12 noon.  This is an Open House for Senior High Students (grades 9-12) at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Register:  636.4232, option #5.

Department of Biological Sciences at Bowling Green State Univ. to offer three $500 scholarships. Deadline: February 19.

OACRAO Leadership and Service Scholarship Six $500 scholarships to be awarded to students attending an Ohio university in the fall.  Postmark deadline Feb. 20

PIEF SCHOLARSHIP  The (Printing Industries Education Funds offers scholarships from $1,000 to $5,000 for those interested in graphic communications, print management, printing technology, or graphic arts.  Apply at www.pianko.org and click on the STUDENT tab.  Application deadline is February 28.    Contact Tom Lasik at 888.576.1971 if you have any questions.

Ripley Federal Savings Bank offers a $500 scholarship to business, economics, finance, and accounting majors, who live in Brown, Adams, Highland or Clermont counties.  See Mrs. Hollabaugh for details and an application.  Applications must be postmarked Feb. 28, 2007.  Applications are also available on their website:

Don’t forget about the thirty $1,000 scholarships awarded to high school seniors through a random drawing process.  Apply online at usbank.com/studentbanking.  Applications accepted October through February.

Ohio PTA to award Academic, Technical, and Special Education Scholarships of $500.  The applications are available from Mrs. Hollabaugh and require a letter of recommendation and official school transcript.  Deadline is March 1.

Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio will award a $2000 scholarship and 2 $500 scholarships. Applications are in Mrs. Hollabaugh’s office. Deadline for applying is March 9.

Classic Federal Credit Union will award four $1,000 scholarships to students who are members of the Classic Federal Credit Union. An essay is required.  Application deadline is March 15.

William D. Squires Foundation
to award twelve $3,000 renewable, need-based scholarships.  Applications available from Mrs. Hollabaugh and at www.wmd-squires-foundation.org. Deadline is April 5.

Chapter 10 Vietnam Veterans
to award scholarships to local veterans and their dependents. Deadline is April 6.  See Mrs. Hollabaugh for applications or call 761-8007.

Summerside Elementary   To award a $1,000 scholarship. Must have attended Summerside for at least 2 years. Essay required. Deadline is April 7th.

Amelia Chapter No. 338, Order of the Eastern Star, will award a non-renewable $500 scholarship to an AHS senior.  This scholarship is given in memory of Beulah Weed, 50-year member and former teacher.  Scholarship applications available in Mrs. Hollabaugh’s office.  Deadline is May 2.

Amelia Lodge No. 590, Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, will award one $1000 scholarship and one $500 scholarship to an AHS senior. The scholarship is given in memory of Harley Clark.  Scholarships are available in Mrs. Hollabaugh’s office. Deadline for applying is May 2.

College Access Information Hotline for parents and students!  The Ohio Board of Regents provides this toll free number 1-800-428-8246 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon. thru Fri.) to enable callers to speak with a “live” Information Specialist to answer questions and provide information about college preparation, financial aid, articulation and transfer, as well as general facts about colleges and universities throughout Ohio.

In Pictures offers free computer how-to tutorials, available at http://www.inpics.net. There are 12 online tutorials on subjects such as Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org, and Dreamweaver 8. The tutorials are based on pictures, not text, and can be used by anyone.

There are two new federal grants for the 2006-07 school year:  the Academic Competitiveness Grant and the SMART Grant (math, science, language majors).

Johnson and Wales University Chancellor’s Scholarship program  offers scholarships from $7,500 to full tuition. There is no application fee. Visit www.jwu.edu. 

University of Toledo has an on-site admission program, where qualified students will be admitted to the university immediately on the spot based on admission materials submitted. Call K. Bailey at 800.5toledo. 

Ohio University has an Appalachian Scholars Program for students living in one of the 29 Appalachian Ohio counties.  Students will be considered if their EFC is $8000 or less.  Learn more by calling 740.593.4141.

Beginning fall 2007, Miami University will provide tuition and fees
for all new first-year students from Ohio who have family incomes of less than $35,000. The program will continue to provide tuition and fees for eligible students for up to four years. Our financial aid staff is also prepared to help families find ways to cover other expenses, such as room and board.


The

University
offers a 5-week summer program for 10th and 11th graders to get a taste of college life and earn college credit over a 5-week course.  OU also offers Early Start Freshman Summer Experience for seniors planning to attend OU in the fall;   students earn up to 16 credit hours in the summer.  Learn more at www.ohio.edu/summer.

Burger King Scholars Program is for students with GPA of 2.5 or higher, who works 15 hours/week for 40 weeks per year, and demonstrates financial need. AHS may nominate only one student.  See Mrs. Hollabaugh for details.

Morehead State University offers a tuition rate of $6,090 per year to qualifying Ohio students.  (This is just above the in-state tuition rate.)  Call Kris Grigsby at 866-585-6781 for more information.

Wilmington College! There is NO application fee when you apply online to  www.wilmington.edu

Northern Kentucky University  gives in-state tuition to UC Clermont transfer students working towards a bachelor’s degree and NOT majoring in environmental science, nursing, or criminal justice.

Eastern Michigan University  offers 16 full-ride scholarships as well as partial ones and gives Ohio residents in-state tuition.  Visit emich.edu/admissions.

Morehead State University gives a discounted tuition of $4,820 per year to Ohio students with a minimum ACT score of  18.
