When weather conditions are
threatening, the conditions of the roads in the
West Clermont Local School District will be checked by transportation
personnel.
Existing conditions will be reported to the superintendent, who will make a
decision,
based on all available information, whether to close the schools.
Roads will be checked early in the morning, and a decision will usually be
made no later than 5:30am.
The superintendent notifies a centralized media reporting service of a
decision to close or delay schools.
Sometimes it is necessary to utilize a two-hour delay to allow
additional time
for road crews to complete their work. If a two-hour delay is
announced,
you should continue to monitor your radio since changing conditions could
warrant closing later.
- In the event of a delay or
closing, a message will be left on the hotline:
513.943.5096
Parents may call
513.943.5096 to hear the latest closing, delay or early dismissal
information due to inclement weather.
Please do not call
the high school offices for this information.
It is important to keep the telephone lines open for emergency purposes.
- School delays and closings will be announced as WEST CLERMONT SCHOOLS.
Individual schools in the District will not be called by name.
- West Clermont school delays
and closings will be reported by local radio and TV
stations.

If schools are open and parents do not want to send their children to
school, the absence will be treated as excused, and the work missed may be
made up. This decision is always available to parents.
Early Dismissals
Mid-day snowstorms create different problems; however, we seldom use early
dismissals.
The District is reluctant to do so for several reasons:
1. In order to dismiss one hour early, the West Clermont Local School
District Main Office personnel must decide no later than 11:45 a.m. to
implement the early dismissal properly.
2. If a decision is made dismiss early, there is the possibility of
children either not having transportation home or being dropped off at home with no one there to let them in.
If conditions in the afternoon
are such that parents wish to go to the school and pick up their children
early, they may do so. The principal will release the children to parents, and
the absence will be excused.
Parents and students are urged to listen to the radio or to watch TV for
announcements concerning changes in school time or bus schedules. Please do
not call the school office for this information.
