What goes on in American Studies?
a
Students examine history through the use of primary sources.  They analyze historical documents, letters, journals, photographs, speeches and other first hand accounts of history.
a
Students at the School of American Studies partake in critical thinking activities individually and in small groups.
a
Our students visit historical landmarks and museums.
a
Through the team teaching concept, History and English classes will be closely linked.  An example of such a class might involve the history class investigating a historical mystery.  The language arts portion of the activity could be to report on the progress of the investigation or to write a persuasive essay detailing the student's theory.
a
The School of American Studies provides our students with an exciting first account of history and a balanced curriculum.  All students have their choice of exciting electives and meet all standards set by the Ohio State Board of Education.
