Message from the Principal . . . . . .
Dear
Parents,
I believe it was this time last year that I wrote to you about
the importance of passing the school levy. I urged everyone to vote
“yes.” Now, as I watch the news and read the newspaper about those
schools that still have not passed their operating levies, I am ever
so thankful that our levy passed. Keeping focused on meeting high
academic standards while emphasizing proper social behaviors is a
full time job for all of us. It takes 100% focus from everyone.
Thanks to you, our supportive community, we are not distracted from
this work by talk of staffing or bussing cuts.
Even with the passage of the levy, we must still continue to use
our funds wisely and look for new ways to improve student
achievement without asking for more from you. For instance, through
a grant, four science and math teachers and I are taking part in a
year-long initiative, offered by Miami University, to examine
student data for instructional improvement. Also, four math teachers
are participating in the Ohio Mathematics Academy Program, several
teachers are participating in workshops on differentiating
instruction and reading (SIRI), and four teachers are participating
in the “Youth for Justice” program. These programs do not require any additional funds!
These programs are just a few of the professional development
initiatives taking place at your school which does not take
resources away from your students. It allows us to grow
professionally and bring new knowledge and insights back to our
classrooms. Everyone benefits.
We will continue to find ways to improve student achievement
while proving to you that we are a resourceful and understanding
community partner. Thank you for your support and confidence!
