Message from the Principal . . . . .
I have said many times that the month of May is by far the hardest month of the school year. It is the time of year when we are focused, not only on finishing the year strong, but also preparing to transition students to their next grade level. Eighth grade students are signed up for their small school for next year and had the opportunity to see presentations from each small school from both campuses. Additionally, most of our 8th grade students attended the small school fair to receive more information about each school before making their choice. Fifth grade students just finished their visits to GEMS and gave us the opportunity to meet them and have them tour our school. We did everything we could to make their trip relaxing to ease their minds about coming to GEMS next year.
Every school year brings about changes for the upcoming year. For the first time in 30 years, Glen Este Middle School will open its doors next school year without Mrs. Turck meeting children at the gym doors. Mrs. Turck spent her entire career here at Glen Este Middle. Along with Mrs. Turck, Mrs. Perry will also retire at the end of this school year. Mrs. Perry spent 33 years in West Clermont splitting time between Amelia High School and Glen Este Middle. Each of these wonderful ladies has had an impact on thousands of students’ lives over their career and I wish them great health and happiness. They will be missed.
I also would like to extend my gratitude towards Jenny Kleinwachter, outgoing PTO President, for her leadership the past two years. The high school will benefit from Jenny’s desire to help the schools. Jenny brought a lot of new ideas, enthusiasm, and passion to being PTO President and improving GEMS.
We are working hard to make next school year even more successful for your child and the community. I appreciate all the support from Eastgate bigg’s, PTO, parents, and staff. Your support is vital in helping our students succeed. I wish everyone a restful and safe summer break!

Angels
They can see
Over the land
What is meant to be.
With the palm of their hand
They can see the sky
They can see why
They see all around . . . .
But who are they?
They are the angels
Up high above.
They see from all angles
Just like a dove.
Sweet as a flower
As beautiful as a mermaid
They watch out for you every hour
Every decade.
