Mission Statement

The Glen Este Middle School Student Council (GEMSSC) is open to all sixth, seventh and eighth graders attending Glen Este Middle School. Students interested in being council members are expected to be conscientious students with a strong desire to work with their peers, faculty and administration toward the common goal of improving the learning culture of Glen Este Middle School.

The purpose of the GEMSSC is to:

1. Create an avenue for students to voice and deal with student concerns and issues.

2. Empower students with voice and responsibility in their school lives.

3. Include students in the processes, which influence their academic lives.

4. Give students practice in democracy and leadership.

5. To develop leadership qualities of Middle School students by way of service to the school and community.

6. Assist in peer conflict resolution.

7. Provide for an exchange of ideas among the student body.

8. To plan and organize activities and projects which advance the social and civic development of the student body.

9. To promote school spirit and an attitude of cooperation between the faculty, administration, and school body.
