Hello Merwin Parents,
I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving. We are coming
back to a calendar jam-packed with important dates.
Specials for this week are Monday/Red; Tuesday/Blue;
Wednesday/Green; Thursday/Yellow; Friday/Red.
Monday: PTO Chuck E Cheese Fundraiser runs from 4 p.m. to 8
p.m.
Mock OAT Testing starts on Tuesday for students in 3rd,
4th & 5th grades. It is very important for students
to be at school on these days. Third and fourth grades will test in the morning,
5th grade will test in the afternoon. Fourth and fifth graders will
take the reading test on Tuesday. On Wednesday, 3rd, 4th,
and 5th graders will take the Math test. On Thursday, 4th
graders will take the writing test and 5th graders will take the
Science test. Fifth graders will take the Social Studies test on Friday. We
will use this information to adjust instruction prior to the spring state
testing.
Wednesday: PTO Papa John’s Pizza Night, and Market Day
pick-up, at school from 6:00-7:00.
We attempt to send all important correspondence home with
students on Thursday each week. Exceptions include important information that
is scheduled by the district such as report cards and interim reports. This is
the case this week. On Friday, students will carry home interim reports for
second quarter. Remember, Kindergarten students do not receive interim
reports. Third grade students will also carry home their fall OAT test results
on Friday. Third graders will take this test again in the spring. We are
sending this information home on Friday, which is consistent with other schools
in our district.
Starting the week of Dec. 8th, Merwin PTO will
once again offer holiday shopping for our students in the Santa Shop. Please
check your child’s agenda for the shopping date for his/her class.
On December 15th , all Merwin 5th
grade students will have the opportunity to visit GEHS to see a music
performance by middle and high school students in an effort to preview what is
available for them when they leave Merwin.
December 17th: Merwin third graders will present
a holiday performance at the AHS PAC at 7:30. The following evening, on Dec.
18th, the 5th grade choir will perform a concert at 7:00
in the Merwin gym, following the PTO meeting. I hope you can join us for these
exciting performances!
That’s it for this week. Have a great week!
Mrs. Hospelhorn
