Attendance Procedures
If a student is absent from school, the parent must call the school before 10:00 am. The morning of the absence or a message can be left on the school’s answering machine. The phone number for the attendance line is 943-6804. It is on 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
If the parent does not call the school, the student returning from an absence must bring a note explaining the reason of absence. The following information must be included in the note to be excused:
The following reasons are recognized as being valid for absence from school:
1. Personal illness
2. Illness in the family
3. Death of a relative
4. Observance of a religious holiday
Absences will be unexcused unless the school has received a phone call from the parent or guardian on the day of absence, a parent/ guardian note , or Doctor’s note has been received within two school days of the student’s return to school.
Fever Policy
Parents are required to keep children home for infectious/contagious illnesses which are accompanied by sore throat, cough, rash, nausea, etc. Children must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Parents are to call the school absent/tardy line 943-6804
Before 10:00 am. Homework requests must also be left on the
teacher's voice mail or e-mail. The email addresses are on the Willowville web
site at Willowville.org The teachers check voice mail twice
daily will try to review the
messages.
A student is considered tardy to school if he/she arrives after the opening bell of school. A tardy becomes a ½ day absence when a student misses 2 ½ hours of school.
Continued tardiness to school will result in corrective measures being taken by the school to alleviate the problem. The corrective measures may be any of the following: a referral to juvenile court, suspension from school, and/or parent conference.
Parents of tardy students must accompany their children to the school office for appropriate processing.
