Brantner Updates

Brantner Updates

Dear Brantner Families,

There is SO much to celebrate from this past week!  The week kicked off with an INCREDIBLE trip to Camp Kern for our fifth graders! A shout out to Mrs. Worley, one of our fifth grade teachers, for organizing this opportunity for our students. Thank you to Mrs. Miller, our other fifth grade teacher who helped with the trip, Mrs. Shepard, Mrs. Basler, Mrs. Bingham, Mr. Cordes, Mr. Eirich, and Mrs. Neckel for sharing your time as well to make this trip a possibility!  They had a great time learning in the great outdoors, exploring biology, wildlife, and building their class community through fun and games!

We had a well attended PTO meeting on Tuesday evening. Thank you to all who came to share insight to the upcoming events at Brantner.  We spent time discussing details of the upcoming fall festival. Please click here to sign up to volunteer to help make this traditional event a success!  Also, we welcome donated bags of candy for the trick or treating fun that evening if you want to send one in with your child.

Throughout the week, our students continued to focus on building their skills in our classrooms.  You can ask your child about what they are writing about in school as all grade levels continue to support our students’ growth with their writing skills.  You can also encourage the writing process by providing journaling opportunities for them at home with a simple notebook or paper. Our students have so many stories and great ideas to write about and record and as they focus on responding to texts or competing a narrative at school, having a creative outlet at home would be beneficial too.

Our week wrapped up with an incredibly successful Student Lock-In!  Thank you to Mrs. Parker, our assistant principal, and the team of teachers who worked to organize this event for our students! Thank you to our staff who volunteered, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Collins, Ms. Brittany, Ms. Kaitlyn, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Brennan, Mrs. Flaherty, Mrs. May-Ellis, Mrs. Cantor, Mrs. Finnamore, Mrs. Stevens, Ms. Grace, Miss Allen, Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Oyster, Mrs. Sheffey, Mrs. Wallace, and Ms. Acomb. Thank you to our high school student volunteers as well, including members from the National Honors Society from our West Clermont High School. The night was filled with fall fun, including painting pumpkins, a dance party, spooky crafts, and so much more. More than 150 students were in attendance with hopes of holding another one soon. The money earned for this event will go right back into our classrooms to support your students' learning!

WC Connects Parent Education Series

In partnership with local community partners, the West Clermont School District is launching the West Clermont Connects Parent Education Series. These monthly sessions will focus on different topics ranging from: Mental Health, Teen Substance Abuse, Physical Wellness/Nutrition, Technology Safety, and Teen Driving. Our next session called, “Hidden in Plain Sight - Drug/Alcohol Abuse Prevention” will be held on Thursday October 18th during Parent/Teacher Conferences at West Clermont High School.  There will be two sessions: 4:30pm-5:30pm and 6:00pm-7:00pm. All sessions will be held in Community Room A. The sessions are free and the entire community is welcome to attend.  Click here to get a full schedule of sessions being offered.

With the winter months coming up, we will be conducting a test call of our weather notification system on Tuesday October 23rd. This system will be used to notify you in the event of a school closing or delay. If you do not receive the call, if you would like to change your number, or if you would like your number excluded from the future notifications please contact your child's school.

As a reminder, the fastest way to get district notifications and information is to follow us on Twitter (@WestCler) or on Facebook at Facebook.com/westclermont.

Whether you’re a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, or other relative, caring for a loved one’s children full-time can be a challenge. It’s easier when you can connect with others experiencing similar circumstances and understand all of the resources available to you from Beech Acres.
