Together as one community, we Learn. Lead. Succeed. We can't wait to tell you our story.

WC Your Future

The text "WC YOUR FUTURE" is displayed in bold, dark blue letters with a gradient effect.

WC Your Future was developed to help students see a link between what they are learning and future work. The program offers ways for students to make career connections as early as kindergarten. In addition, professionals and community partners are invited into the schools to take us behind the scenes to show us what they do every day.

The most tangible evidence of our Portrait of a Graduate work is in the expansion of our WC Your Future programming. This innovative programming serves students PK-12 by focusing on career awareness, exploration and planning. This exposure to a broad range of subjects, disciplines and real-world experiences will help students identify their passions and aspirations, make connections, and discover new ideas.

ELEMENTARY OPPORTUNITIES

Each week, elementary students expand their learning potential through our Discovery course - a program with lessons based on creativity, problem solving, thinking skills, teamwork and STEM-related content.  This course is designed to provide students with foundational knowledge and skills that lay the foundation for future careers and post-secondary success.  We look forward to expanding our WC Your Future elementary programming in the future.

We are committed to partnering with members of our community to support our students in areas outlined in our Portrait of a Graduate. Our five statements that help us stay rooted in our WHY include:

Our students:

  • Create the lives they desire
  • Turn ideas into action
  • Pursue personal happiness and joy
  • Do what is right even when no one is watching
  • Are resilient in the face of challenge

MIDDLE SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES

We provide exploratory encore course offerings which support students in both their exposure to possible careers of interest while also allowing them to discover what really excites them and what they would likely walk away from when it comes to course offerings at the high school level.

One high interest area in our community is financial literacy. There is a need for students to understand how to manage and maximize their resources, so they are equipped to support the lifestyles they desire as they emerge into adulthood.  In 7th and 8th grade, students have an opportunity to participate in a financial literacy elective. Additionally, we provide a thread of learning experiences at all levels to support student acquisition of skills and deep understanding in the area of financial literacy.

For example, as part of the West Clermont High School Explorers Program, students experience different career pathways including medical, leadership, education, trades, computer science and aviation.

We continue to grow our Career-Based Learning opportunities. Many of our students, in addition to meeting their graduation requirements, participate in internships or pre-apprenticeship programs along with wage-earning jobs.

We remain dedicated to growing community connected learning opportunities in our core and elective courses as well.
