Each January in schools across Ohio, we celebrate our Boards of Education as part of School Board Recognition Month. This year’s theme is Scaling New Heights in Public Education—a fitting reflection of the leadership demonstrated by the West Clermont Board of Education. Recently, the Board was honored with the Ohio Board of Distinction Award from the Ohio School Boards Association. Out of 611 districts statewide, West Clermont was one of only five districts recognized for exemplary governance and leadership.
“School board members play a vital role in shaping the future of education in our community,” said Dr. David Fultz, superintendent of West Clermont Local Schools. “Their decisions impact every student, every classroom, and every family. We are grateful for their vision and service.”
School board members serve as a critical link between the community and the classroom. They are elected to establish policies that provide the framework for public education.
“School board members give our community a voice in education decision-making,” Dr. Fultz said. “While January is a special time to recognize their contribution, their commitment lasts all year. Please join us in thanking our board members for their service.”
I hope you’ll join us this month in thanking our Board of Education, which consists of Tammy Spencer, Tina Sanborn, Ryan Patton, Jim Rudy, and Michael Chumley. Thank you today, and every day, for believing in our mission to commit to excellence with every learner, every day, every way.
