West Clermont Words: Better Together

better-together

by Natasha L. Adams

A huge thank you to everyone in the community. Our students, parents, staff, and community members have all shown how a community comes TOGETHER in a crisis through acts of kindness, demonstrating patience and understanding, and offering innovative solutions to our new challenges.

Students and families are creating new routines and are dealing with the unexpected extra stress of this international crisis. I am proud of our students and the resiliency they have demonstrated, maximizing technology tools to stay connected.

And our staff. I cannot express how impressed I have been these past weeks. Staff members have worked behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition to remote learning, deep clean our schools, and feed our children. Teachers have been working hard to make a personal connection with each student and are growing professionally to completely shift to a digital curriculum. Administrators have led with courage, distributed computers, connected with partners, committed to constant communication with families, and developed resources for staff, students, and parents.

None of this would be possible without the support and involvement of our parents. Parents have sent encouraging emails thanking the district for feeding students, connecting with students, and for resources, we are providing during our transition to a new learning environment. Parents are learning to balance work at home while establishing a “new normal” for their families.

Our community partners are integral to our district, and that is especially true now. They have worked to feed and clothe our students as well as support students with mental health issues during this crisis. We can always count on our community to step up when we are in need.

I am grateful to be surrounded by so many who are approaching these changes we are facing together with grace, compassion, and positivity. Truly, we are better together!
